The Quieter, More Grounded Path
By Brett Farrell
Every January, I feel the same pull.
I’ve got to set bigger goals.
I need to reinvent.
Work harder.
Prove that I’m somebody.
That’s a lot of pressure to carry into the start of a year.
And running culture leans into it big time.
More challenge.
More epic.
More focus on what’s bigger and harder.
After a while, it starts to feel like I’m floating around in goal-land too much and I lose my footing in the here and now.
What I keep coming back to is this: January doesn't need to be starting over or reinventing. It can be a refresh on what is important to us.
Running, at its best, is a chance to breathe.
To feel free.
To feel energized.
To be present.
And if you have set big goals for the year, maybe it’s your year to do it with more ease—refreshing how you show up along the way.
You may have noticed that in 2025, I brought the Territory Run philosophy more to the forefront. That’s something we’re continuing into the new year and beyond.
We’re here to share running in a way that sustains your energy for it, long term.
It’s about consistency over intensity.
About grounding ourselves so real strength can build over time.
We have some thoughtful ideas coming this year, and I’m looking forward to continuing to offer a quieter, more grounding path in running. One that feeds our energy for the long game.
Here’s to some good ol’ running in 2026.
