Virtual Book Club: Spirit Run
A 6,000 Mile Journey through North America's Stolen Land
With Author, Noé Álvarez
It is a great time to do some reading! Join us for a virtual book club to discuss the new book, Spirit Run by Noé Álvarez. Noé will join us to discuss his story in taking part in the 6,000 mile Native America/First Nation's Peace and Dignity Journeys run through North America's stolen land.
This discussion has already taken place but will soon be released in podcast form.
Noé is the son of working class Mexican immigrants and grew up laboring at fruit packing plants in Yakima, WA. He dropped out of college when he was 19 to join the run and his book tells his journey from Canada to Guatemala. He traverses the challenges of running distances he has never completed before day after day, as well as relationships and situations along the way. Noé tells how running forged him new connections to the land and grew his understanding of his family's part in it all.
