    Albuquerque, New Mexico

I am from Albuquerque and moved back after I finished college…its called the land of entrapment for a reason!!

I love running on the South Crest trail, its tough with amazing views.  Outside of running the amazing trails in New Mexico, I love to run the trails in Colorado…Ouray and Creede at the top of the list!

The Greenside Café is my all-time favorite…the best Huevos Rancheros with green chile of course!

There are so many reasons why I run and they have evolved as I have gotten older.  I ran cross country in college and at that time I ran to win. After college, I started running longer distances, loved that challenge, and did great. Then I had kids and my body changed.  I started having autoimmune issues and stopped age group placing…I found myself in the middle of the pack. Then one autoimmune disease turned into two and now I was back of the pack. I struggle with Celiac disease and colitis.  I am always dehydrated. I will never absorb 100% of the nutrients that I ingest, so now I run for me. I run for the beauty that my feet can carry me to. I run for stress relief. I run for the social aspect, because trail runners rock and are always up for an adventure.  I run to prove that even if I am not going to age group place or even finish in the middle of the pack, I can still do this. I can be an ultrarunner that has autoimmune diseases. Of course, I have had failures due to the autoimmune diseases, DNFs are never fun…but I would rather DNF then never toe the line or just give up and never run again.  I have made some of my very best friends through running. I have seen some amazingly beautiful sunsets, starry skies, and landscapes through running. My daughters see me run and conquer hard trails and long distances and I hope that they think of me as a strong momma…and that they can be strong too!
